Co - curricular Block, 20^th February – Lajnah Rekreasi, Kesenian, dan Kebudayaan (LRKK) of Rakan Masjid Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) had organized a percussion class. This class had started at 3.00 pm and ended at 5.30 pm in Lecture Room 17 (LR17). The objective of this activity is to expose the campus community to the art of playing percussion instrument.

            This event was open for all of UTP’s community. Registration of participants started from 3.00 pm. The number of participants was 21 people including the committee members, consists of 18 males and three females. The class started with a short speech from the council chairman. The class was conducted by an instructor from the group Perkusigatra, Mr. Ismail bin Ibrahim.

            The first slot was The Introduction. Mr. Ismail introduced his group members that attended on that day including Ustaz Zuriyat bin Omar, and also a brief explanation about his background and Perkusigatra. The second slot was “Pukulan-pukulan Asas”, which was introduction to the basic strokes for percussion. Each participants were given a percussion instrument either conga, djembe or bongo. There were eight ways of strokes taught by the instructor. 

In the third slot, which was “Rentak-rentak asas”, participants were taught two pace and played in rotation and queue-group. The fourth slot was “Teknik Bermain Secara Solo dan Berkumpulan”. Participants were separated into two groups, and were asked to play two different song among them. The final slot was “Kombinasi Gaya dan Rentak”. In this slot, ten paces were introduced and the members of Perkusigatra themselves played while the participants observed and some of them recorded the performance.

After the final slot, participants that will be performing on Malam Inspirasi Seni (MIS) asked some advices from the instructor during the question and answer session. The class ended with a few speeches from the chairman and class dismissed at 5.30 pm.
