Futsal Competition (Muslimin)

Village 5, 19 February - A futsal competition for males was held at the court in Village 5 (V5) at 8.00 pm. This competition was one of the programs organized under Heart for Islam (H4I) 2010 campaign.

            This competition gains a lot of positive responses from the students of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). Not only the local students, but the international students of UTP also participated in this event. Besides, there were also non-Muslims that participated in this event.

            There were 20 teams that joined this competition. Each team consists of eight members, in which five people as the main players and three reserve players. Among the teams that were playing were Baghdad, El-Far’ana, 1991 and GTO.

            The game is played based on league system.            The 20 teams were divided into groups A and B. Each group has 10 teams. The winner from each group competed again each other in the final match while the second place from each group competed for the third placing.

            The teams that competed in the finals were team El-Far’ana and team Baghdad while the teams competed for third placing were team GTO and team Jangan Main Kasar. The winner for this competition was team El-Far’ana, a team of UTP students from Egypt. The second place goes to team Baghdad, the third place goes to team GTO and the fourth place goes to team Jangan Main Kasar. The prizes for the winners will be given during the closing ceremony of H4I.

            Thus, this competition not only helps the students of UTP to show their talents in sports, but it also had shown us that this sport can strengthen the bonds between Muslims and non-Muslims.
