The topic for the forum was “Peranan Muslim Dalam Memperkasa Prinsip Halal-Haram” (The role of Muslim in strengthening halal-haram principle). The panels for the forum were Ustaz Hj. Zamri Bin Hashim, Deputy Mufti of Perak State and Ustaz Mohamad Nidzam Bin Abdul Kadir, a lecturer from UIAM and an independent speaker. The moderator for the forum was Mohd Khairul Anuar bin Zainal Abidin, mas’ul Lajnah Strategi Dan Dakwah. The forum started at 9.30 pm and ended at 11.30 pm. As a Muslim, we should know the term “halal” and “haram” as these words are commonly used in our daily life. However, there are some people that rebranding these terms to make it look less serious. For example, the term “pendatang haram” which means illegal immigrants are now commonly known as “pendatang tanpa izin”. Another example is the word “riba” are now being rephrased as interest to make Muslims become confuse about the act. According to Ustaz Hj. Zamri, we cannot rely on halal logo fully to determine the state of a certain product. Instead, we should be knowledgeable ourselves. If a certain product is doubtful to us, we should leave it is. Muslim’s product is not an alternative solution to our problem in knowing what legal or illegal, instead it is compulsory for us to use these products. For example, Islamic banking which is banking without interest should be our choice instead of conventional banking. In conclusion, as a Muslim we all should know about what is legal and illegal as it applies in every act that we do throughout our life. |
